"Hotel Rocador July 07"

Have just returned from a wonderful holiday in Cala d'Or in Majorca. I stayed in the hotel Rocador for two weeks with my husband and two kids, aged 6 and 7. The hotel's location was fantastic and had steps down to a beautiful beach which was extremely busy each day. We spent most of our days in one of hotel's five hotels - two kids' pools, one indoor pool and two outdoor pools. Sunbeds were free.
I think all residents in the hotel were half board. Food was pretty good and despite breakfast and evening meals being really busy, we were all fed efficiently and with spectacular views from the dining room and bar. Pizza restaurant a few steps up from pool two was pretty good and not expensive.
The reception staff at the hotel were very friendly especially the two younger girls.
The room was quite basic with four beds in it, wardrobe, dressing table etc. En suite bathroom was lovely. We had balcony overlooking one of the pools. A sea view would have been even better, although I did hear someone complaining about noise through the night on the beach.
There was very little entertainment on in hotel and it wasn't hugely popular but that was OK because hotel is so close to town centre packed with lots of bars and restaurants. We loved the Scottish bar, the 'Tartan Arms', that did quiz and bingo. We won both! Great place to meet good company.
What would have made our holidays better? - a fridge in our room. Would recommend this resort and hotel to all. Will probably return in future.
You should have a meal at the marina, ten minutes walk from hotel. Would also recommend Italian restaurant opposite steak house 'El Goucho'. Steakhouse was OK too. Kids enjoyed visit to 'The Jungle' restaurant with lots of model, full sized animals. Service was not great though and our bill was wrong. Check yours carefully if you go.
We all went on 'Pirates' excursion in Palma - very pricey but great show. Food was basic but tasty. Hour and a half journey there and back was a pain though.

Hotel and staff excellent. They made my family, especialy my grandson Joshua, most welcome. Of special note is Christian who made Joshua's holiday one to remember.
One minor point - the rooms need fans / air conditioning especialy in high season.
