The four star Alcabaza Mar Hotel opened its door in 2006 and is located in the south east of Almeria, in the area of Retamar, next to the Cabo de Gata Natural Park, five kilometres from the airport and 15 kilometres from Almeria town. It is 200 metres from the beach and borders on the golf course El Toyo.

The hotel offers 197 bedrooms, with a capacity of up to four people (two adults and two children) and 15 junior suites. They offer air conditioning, central heating, telephone and safety deposit box. Half of the hotel rooms will soon provide internet wireless access and there are rooms for disabled guests.

Facilities at the Alcazaba mar include a lounge, lobby bar with outside terrace next to the swimming pool, bar 'La Palapa', next to the sport and entertainment areas, main buffet restaurant with show-cooking area for the breakfast, lunch and dinner and theme nights, separate swimming pools for adults and for children, a competition swimming pool to carry out competitions, volley ball and water polo. The hotel provides a mini club for children between four and 12. A spa and wellness centre with indoor pool is planned for 2007.
