Review title: "Excellent Value for Money"
Travel date: August 2007
Just back from a fantastic week at Hotel Miranda. After reading some reviews here I was a little worried, but need not have been. The hotel is amazing value for money for where it is situated. It's basic, but then what do you expect for the price?! It's clean, tidy and well maintained. My friends paid four times what I did for a hotel miles away from the beach. I stayed in a single room, which had a double bed, a wardrobe, two night stands, a lamp, a fan, a mirror and dressing table. I also had a balcony, which meant I could open up the door at night and let air in, that combined with the fan meant I didn't feel the need for air conditioning. I'd say it's like a Spanish 'travelodge' or similar - basic but clean. The bathroom was spotlessly clean and the shower was very powerful. The rooms are cleaned every day, the towels are changed twice a week.

The owner was really nice to me, I didn't find her lacking at all (although maybe a little spaced out and vague at times). The reception is not manned 24 hours but it's a small hotel - again, what do you expect?! The part time receptionist is slightly offhand and not very welcoming, other than that the staff are all really nice and friendly. The bar snacks are good too - the sausage baguette is to die for, you must try one. I didn't see or hear a dog throughout my stay. There were dogs in the neighbourhood, and occasionally I heard them bark, but that's not the fault of the hotel.

It's in a very quiet location and I'd say it's more a single person or couples hotel, as there's not a lot for kids to do. The pool is big enough to do lengths in and was really quiet most days - no screaming kids and other people making noise - it was bliss! As it is a small hotel you did sometimes hear noises from other rooms, people banging doors etc, but that happens wherever you stay, and it wasn't anything unbearable. Overall I was really impressed by Hotel Miranda and will definitely be returning, with all my friends!

I had misgivings about this hotel as I had read a very uncomplimentary review about it. I need not have worried. It is simple but very clean. The bathrooms are very compact but adequate. The pool is not suitable for toddlers and there are no lifts. The staff are helpful and friendly (no sign of a dog as mentioned in the review!) I think the only reason it has one star is the lack of a restaurant and air conditioning. My daughter and I had a lovely week here and would recommend it.

We have been going to Hotel Miranda, Santa Ponsa for many years and have always received the utmost courtesy, consideration and hospitality from the family owners and staff.

Lassie the dog has never been any problem and is seldom seen in public areas and we have never seen dog's hairs everywhere and certanly not in eating areas and the dog was always supervised by one of the family.

The pool was never meant to be suitable for infants to roam unsupervised, in fact, the Hotel Miranda is not meant for children as there are no child places / prices advertised for it.

Breakfast - traditional Spanish - ham, cheese, bread, cereals, tea / coffee, fruit - always plentiful - always fresh!

We have always, right from the first visit, always found the Miranda to be very friendly, in fact on consequent visits (we go most years) found the family and staff treat you almost as family!!

Very convenient - five minutes to beach and shops- lots of wonderful Spanish restaurants in Santa Ponsa and a fabulous beach.

Review title: "Hotel From Hell"

Advertised as small friendly family hotel, but omit to say part of that family is an alsation dog. It was allowed to wander around the hotel freely, by the pool, in the restaurant and in reception. It attacked my two year old grand daughter and bit her on the cheek leaving three teeth marks and badly bruised. Apart from calling out a doctor, the owners of the hotel were not interested at all. I demanded dog be removed from the hotel and was assured this had happened, only to find it wandering freely around the next day. I was then then told it was being taken to the vets that day, only to find that it had actually been put in kennels until our departure. My grand daughter was lucky but the next child might not be. There were dog hairs everywhere, including the dining room. The swimming pool was very dangerous, certainly not suitable for children or anyone who can't swim. Breakfast consisted of ham, cheese, bread and cereal which had to be cut with a knife it was so stuck together. The courtesy room had to be paid for on the day of departure. The staff were not at all friendly or helpful when needed. Not a place where anyone would want to return to.

These opinions are those of HotelStreet visitors and not of HotelStreet.
