The Silken Ciudad Gijón is a recently opened four-star hotel, located in a building whose modern architecture is characterised by a glass and steel façade, looking out over the coastal city of Gijon and surrounded by the Cantabrian Sea.

This Silken hotel has 134 rooms. There are 108 standard rooms, some reserved for non-smokers, some communicating rooms and others adapted for disabled persons. The rooms have parquet flooring, a bathroom, safety deposit box, mini bar, television, canal+ and telephone. The Silken Ciudad Gijón has an executive floor with 22 rooms, some reserved for non-smokers, and two suites. The executive suites have a dressing gown and six of the executive rooms have bathrooms equipped with a hydro massage bath. All have a trouser press. The four suites on the hotel's fourth and fifth floors include a living area next to the bedroom. They have a bathroom with round hydro massage bath and dressing gown. Users of the suites can order breakfast and the daily newspapers in their room.

The Silken Ciudad Gijón has a café and restaurant 'Gala' with accommodation for 55 diners and offering a chef's menu from Monday to Friday and an à la carte menu combining recipes from the local cuisine with dishes in more modern styles. On the ground floor of the hotel and with a separate entrance are the 'Madrid', 'Paris', 'London', 'Lisbon', 'Vienna', 'Monaco' and 'Rome' lounges. These seven public rooms can be either hired separately, or their modular structure means they can be combined, depending on the accommodation each customer requires. All seven can be joined together into the large 'Europe Lounge', with capacity for 1,200 guests. The 'Asturias' room is on the sixth floor. All offer the following services: public address system, broadband internet connection, slide projector, overhead projector, cafe service, internet connection and whiteboard. Other facilities at the hotel include 101 parking places in the garage, located on floors -2 and -3, with access 24 hours a day. On floor -3 of the hotel guests will find the heated pool, available to guests every day of the year. Next to the swimming pool guests can also enjoy a spa. On floor -2 is the gymnasium, fitted out with modern fitness equipment. The sauna is on the same floor.
