Review title: "Why The Bad Reviews?"
Travel date: October 2008
Everybody is entitled to their opinion, but can't understand all the bad reviews regarding this particular hotel. Had a fab time. Staff very efficient and friendly. Rooms kept clean and tidy. New bed linen and towels every day. Food and variety of excellent drinks available 24 hours.

Take it from me, book the Magic Rock Gardens hotel with supreme confidence. You won't be disappointed. Only disadvantage is the so called 'Cardiac Hill'. But that's not the hotel's fault.

Review title: "Magic Rock Gardens Recent Holiday"
Travel date: July 2008
Just had two weeks in the Magic Rock Gardens hotel but we did not enjoy it for the fact that on arrival, we were stuck in a room not much bigger than an average bathroom. We changed rooms OK, except service was rubbish - no towels some days plus the noise in the hotel was horrendous with more children than ever, even though it was in school term time.

Apart from heart attack hill to hotel, this place needs a good shake up with the too laid back staff situation. Too many chiefs and not enough Indians. Never again. Thomson reps - what reps? I have gone on holiday with Thomsons for years but never again as the good reputation has gone right down the pan. I think they need a good sort out.

Review title: "Magic Rock Gardens"
Travel date: January 2006
I had the misfortune to stay for one week in this prison camp in January 2006. First of all, I am a smoker which is an addiction not a crime. Nowhere in any brochure was I informed that new laws starting 1st January 2006 had affected the rights of smoking holiday makers. I used this hotel in 2004 and 2005 and must say I enjoyed it then as a hotel. However, none of the 'Amigos' group seem to know the rules governing their country. In the Magic Rock Gardens we could only use one bar situated in the main reception, then after three days we were moved away from reception further down into the dungeon, 50 metres away from the bar.

'Professional' entertainment came in the form of a quiz and karaoke, but again, I'm afraid no smoking but at least we could go back out and into the dungeon and watch television and if you were lucky, it was switched on. There actually was a bar where we were forced to sit but it never opened.

Now this hotel is in a group of about ten Magic hotels - Fenicia (Spanish only), Venecia (closed), Villa de Benidorm (same applies, no smoking in entertainment room), Villa de Mar (decent), Monika (no smoking at all), Excalibur (good Friday nights) and Crystal Park ( best by far and you can smoke in entertainment room and in bar next to pool and darts room). If you are going to eat, please use Crystal Park. This is by far the best of the hotels with at least edible food. The snacks between meals are far in front of the main meals served up in the Magic Rock Gardens.

On the good side, the rooms are clean and comfortable with good cleaning staff. But if you do smoke, take heed. Book into Armley or Strangeways prison. You'll have more rights as a smoker and remember you are paying the same price as non smokers but without the benefits. You've paid up front - be warned! Good luck|

Overall out of 10 - food 2 (being generous), drinks 2 (being generous), entertainment 0, rooms 9, cleaning staff 8, bar staff 7, reception staff 5, general facilities 3. Not see you next year!

Review title: "Totally Fantastic"
Travel date: June 2005
Our stay at the Magic Rock Hotel in Benidorm was totally fantastic! You get great value for money. There is a lot to do in Benidorm and the night life is only a walk away. The beach is on the doorstep! I would recommend anyone to stay here.

I would recommend trying to upgrade to a family room as they are huge with two balconies! But there are only eight in the hotel but was well worth the extra. We are going back in June 06 (but the wife won't shell out on the huge room so I'll be writing a review on a normal room next time!).

The staff there are very friendly and the food is very good! The bar staff are especially fantastic! Anyway, wait for my next review to come in June 06!

Review title: "Brilliant"
Travel date: November 2002
The Magic Rock is the best hotel I have ever stayed at in Spain. My wife and I have stayed there now four times and would not dare to go to any other hotel in Benidorm, because Magic Rock is so good. It as everything you want. The staff are so friendly and obliging.

It is so good because I suffer with my walking and getting to the Magic Rock there is a very steep hill to climb, but if you use your head and go round to the back entrance, it is much easier. Now if someone used their head and built a cable car at the top and bottom of the hill, they would turn out to be millionaires so I am looking for a business partner. How about it? But honestly, no joking, Magic Rock is a brilliant place to stay.

These opinions are those of HotelStreet visitors and not of HotelStreet.
