"Tamaimo Tropical Apartments Suprised"

After the negative reports of cockroaches, no towels and unhelpful staff, we found no cockroaches - they seem to treat rooms when vacant. Towels changed every day except Sunday. Staff changed us from no air con room to one with at no charge. Holiday was great and the Tamaimo Tropical hotel helped make it.
We were not AI so did not try food. Plenty of good resturants close by. Watch out for the 'Court Yard' - they are keen to push the drink. Good if you want to get plastered, but not a good tactic.

We stayed here as a last minute decision and were very disappointed. We were put in, I think, room 500, which was not on the map. We were told that this was 'the best room there'. Well, the balcony certainly was. It was huge and we had a little walkway that went to a stone bench that over looked the sea, which was stunning. However, the smell on the balcony was awful - sewers. The room was tiny, the shower had mould all over it and was illegal as it had an independent heater which was gas. You couldn't fit in the shower either. The smell in the apartment was unbearable. The door was broken and so mis-shapen that when it rained, water flooded the room.
The food in the restaurant was OK, if you like chips as that is what they served at every sitting. Some of the food was absolutely awful.
The cleaners were friendly but staff were not really. Would never go back. Sofas were ripped and there was a huge insect problem.
I would not go back to the Tamaimo Tropical hotel, but the area was beautiful and the locals seemed very friendly.

"Tamaimo Tropical Apartments Excellent Value"

January 2008
We fancied a holiday in Tenerife because of the warm weather all year round and we booked the Tamaimo Tropical Apartments. Me and my husband thought it was great value and we could not wait to go, but then we looked at some of the reviews that people had put, and thought oh no, what have we done? There were some mixed points of view of Tamaimo Tropical.
Any how, me, my husband and three children arrived at Tamaimo Tropical and were pleasantly surprised. It was a lovely complex, the apartment was very clean on arrival, a little basic but all the essentials you need. We went self catering and we had dinner down by the pool, which has a great menu and the bar staff was polite.
They have a fashion show down by the pool on a Thursday which we enjoyed and we went out to many restaurants at night for meals. We went on the 'Gladiator' and the 'Dolphin excursion. We chose to just go for one and a half hours with having two smaller children and one elder son, but they loved the faster boat and looking for the dolphins, we managed to see dolphins and all the red crabs on the cliffs, which we all enjoyed. They stop and give you a beer or drinks for children and packets of nuts, all free of charge.
A very friendly lady called Mags owns her own cafe up at the top arcade of shops called ' Scooby's' - very nice English breakfasts. Plenty of gift shops there too and a very nice shop for the ladies who love their handbags and shoes too. I bought my daughter the red and white polka dot Spanish shoes, which she loves, for 15 euros.
All that is left to say is we came home on the 3 February and wish we were back there in the hot weather and gorgeous resort. We all had a enjoyable holiday and we would book the Tamaimo Tropical apartments again without a doubt.

We took a last minute booking to the Tamaimo Tropical. We had not stayed all inclusive before. We found the rooms to be very comfortable and very clean. The food was excellent, good variety and well presented. The staff were exceptionally friendly and eager to please. The whole complex was constantly being cleaned and tidied. We certainly will be going back and will recommend it. We are a retired couple.

After booking, I read the reviews! Needless to say I was a bit concerned, but I needn't have been. On arrival we were met by very polite friendly staff, who quickly checked us in and directed us to our apartment. The apartment itself was clean and welcoming. The maid service was daily, except for Sundays. We were provided with clean towels daily and the apartment was also cleaned daily. The only complaint I had was, there were no tea towels or washing up liquid.
As far as eating out, the restaurants provided a good variety of food. The entertainment in the evenings was brill! If you go there, check out the bar, 'Route 66', they have an act on called 'Old Dogs, New Tricks' and we had a few great nights there!
I read in one of the reviews that there was nothing to do in Puerto Santiago, but we found there was plenty to do. If what's there isn't to your taste, a short walk takes you into Los Gigantes or Playa del Arena. You can also get a bus into Playa del Americas.
In all we had a terrific time and would certainly go back to the Tamaimo Tropical!

Great place, great location, lots of entertainment for kids. We went self catering and another couple went all inclusive - depends what you want. Food in restaurant good but very much the same all the time, local food great and reasonably priced.
Must do trip on yellow catamaran which you can catch at marina in Los Gigantes.
Kids entertained constantly and staff excellent, rooms cleaned everyday and very little cockroaches. This holiday is what you make it we loved it - had been to the Tamaimo Tropical before in '98 and big changes since then. Kids are seven and four we are 30ish!

The Tamaimo Tropical is a great hotel to stay. This was our fourth visit and we are going again in September 2008. Reception staff really pleasant & will help with any queries or problems especially David. Rooms very nice, cleaned every day except Sunday. Everything you could need, i.e., a two ring hob, microwave, kettle toaster, fridge and safe (definitely get one for peace of mind). Cleaners pleasant & polite.
Only problem sometimes was people saving the sun beds and not using them until late afternoon. (Wish the hotel would do what it says and remove the towels off the beds if not used within, say, two hours - enough time to have your dinner - but they don't).

Just got back from our all inclusive holiday and my goodness, how it wasn't all inclusive.
We arrived at the hotel and it looked very nice from the outside. We were welcomed by a very friendly receptionist who spoke very good English, booked us in and sent us off to our room. We were pleased with out room and it had air con. The only thing we can fault is the bars on the balcony are quite wide apart and my two year old could easily climb between and fall three floors down but the hotel staff quickly rectified this and put some kind of netting up so she couldn't be hurt.
The pools are great and we can not fault them either, it's only when it comes to the food, drinks, and entertainment that the hotel is let down. On several occasions we had to queue 45 minutes to get drinks at the bar they have and many times they actually ran out of drinks like coke and fanta and also the local beer.
We also had to queue over 30 minutes each time to be seated in the only restaurant they have that can only seat 200 people when over 2000 guests are staying all inclusive. There is not a very good choice of food and if you like chips, you will be on a roll; chips with everything, even breakfast.
The reps are very young and not very helpful at all. Most of the time they were still half cut from the night before so if you have complaints or need help, they can not usually help you. The entertainment consists of a kids' disco which is meant to last an hour which in fact only lasts 10 minutes. The man who runs the entertainment hypes all of the children up then decides to start bingo (which lasts nearly hour and half as he has to call the numbers out in every language possible.) He then tells all of the children and some as young as two to sit down and be quiet, after he has hyped them up.
The hotel is situated in a very quiet area but this is sometimes nice. There is a pathway out the front of the hotel but what you don't realise is you have to climb 127 steps to get to the top. Overall we didn't really enjoy our stay here and would NOT recommend it. Many people we spoke to here on our holiday are going to be making some sort of complaint when they get home.

Tamaimo Tropical is a great place to have a relaxing holiday. There were six of us that went and we all really enjoyed it. Granted, it is a quiet place but we were made to feel to feel very safe. Security on 24/7 and lifeguards on everyday of the week.
The views were amazing - Mount Teide, the cliffs of Los Gigantes and La Gomera. One place you must visit, if you go, I recommend going to the 'Courtyard' - two class acts on every night plus the bar staff were really welcoming. I am all ready planning to go back later on in the year

We have stayed at Tamaimo many times, but are getting fed up as on our last few visits we have been allocated rooms in 'Alta Vista'. These rooms should be no more than store rooms. There is no balcony. You have a sliding window which allows some fresh air and a view to all the other guests who were lucky enough to be allocated a room with a balcony. The walkways into 'Alta Vista' are unsafe and when raining, dangerous. We complained immediately upon our arrival and were told we would have wait until people were checking out. We spent three nights in 'the village of the damned' before we were finally given a very pleasant room overlooking the pool in the old part of the accommodation. We had a lovely holiday but these rooms do need to be dismissed as accommodation for discerning holiday makers. Tamaimo Tropical needs to get back to offering good customer service as it did when it first opened.

'Don't go there'. Just returned from the worst holiday with Air Tours/My Travel ever. Somebody has stated people were fighting for sun beds and it is true. Half of the rooms don't have air conditioning, there are no sea views, and there is nothing to do there other than sit by the pools, if you are lucky. And rooms are still being broken into and items are being stolen. If you are thinking of going to this place it's up to you!! but I would say think trice. Don't go!

Just returned from the worst holiday!!!! If you were not up at 8 am to get a sun lounger, you did not get one all day and there were people fighting for them. There was nowhere else to go, so it was the balcony for the day very boring!!!
Entertainment was non existent and the hotel prices were extortionate. Rooms were getting broken into and things were getting stolen from round the pool. My advice is if you are thinking of visiting this place, DON'T.

I can honestly say this was the worst place I have ever stayed in. It rained the second day and on the third day our apartment roof started leaking. We went straight to reception and told them and they agreed to send a "maintenance man". He arrived about two hours later, looked at the leak which was just above the curtain rail and exclaimed "is not possible!". I very quickly told him it was and all he did was gather up some towels and put them on the floor directly underneath where the leak was - and that was it! We had a few days of dry weather but on the Saturday it poured with rain and lashed it down which meant the leak returned and was worse than ever resulting in a sleepless night. Sunday morning we complained to the reception and were told quite rudely there were no rooms available and despite the room swimming in rain water we would have to put up with it! Our rep was a young girl and was not especially assertive. Finally, exasperated I rang the emergency contact number for 'MY Travel' and we were moved to the Hotel Playa L'Arena - four star hotel, upgraded to half board too and the Tamaimo Tropical would be picking up the tab.
Puerto Santiago is a poor resort that has few restaurants and choice - if you go there watch out for the restaurant that has the lecherous waiter especially if you have young females in your group. On return to the UK, we were allocated holiday vouchers to compensate us for the shabby inept service we received at Tamaimo Tropical. I would also advise you that "entertainment" is poor and bar prices sky high there too!

Overall enjoyed our stay at Tamaimo Tropical. Quite quiet in the first week but was a whole lot busier the second week and the hotel was obviously short of staff. Couldn't cope with the onflux of people to the buffet. A few times we went to eat and there were no clean plates or cutlery left. I had coffee out of a soup bowl for breakfast one morning.
Apartments were nice and clean and the maids were in every day except Sunday. Only real complaint was the bar staff who were not very friendly or helpful.
This was our first time in Tenerife and would certainly go back, perhaps to a different resort.

Good accommodation in a nice location, handy for bars and restauraunts. We stayed in the new part of the complex which has air conditioning - worth asking about if you book. The original part of the complex apparently only has ceiling fans in some rooms.
Friendly complex, with plenty of sun beds but a shortage of parasols. While we were there some guests took parasols to their apartment when they vacated the sun beds - naughty!!
This is our second visit to these apartments and will certainly go again (but I'll buy a parasol for our own use!!).

This is a fantastic hotel if you want to unwind and laze about as there's not much to do here. The pools are great, no complaints there at all, but I must admit although I do like a relaxing holiday, I found it to be a bit too quiet.
The hotel itself is lovely, also the surrounding area with a great Chinese restaurant/takeaway at the top of the hill.
The rooms were cleaned daily with fresh towels and sheets regularly changed. I would return here but only for a week's holiday next time. The Tamaimo Tropical is a lovely place for relaxing.
These opinions are those of HotelStreet visitors and not of HotelStreet.
