"Hell On Earth At Sun Beach Apartments"
Travel date:
August 2007
We stayed at the Sun Beach Apartments in August 2007 for two weeks. It was myself, my husband and my 12 year old son. We are not old, only in our 30s and found this place awful!
It is a party hotel for 18-25 year olds that never sleep during the night, only during the day. The bedroom is set at the back in a claustrophobic room with no air conditioning right next to the corridor with a tiny window with bars on it. The first night we arrived we were shattered from travelling and needed sleep. There was no chance of that. All you could hear was a party going with very, very loud techno music on in one room. Then there was the constant door bell ringing and banging by drunks. Then came the arguing and shouting and finally the girls crying and screaming. We didn't sleep at all and felt wrecked. Our good neighbour said he thought it was like being in Beirut! We thought so too.
The sheets were filthy, ripped and even had lipstick on them to show that they were not washed. The towels were the same. There was vomit on the paths to the stairwells from the all night partying.
We were on the sixth floor so we thought the only solution to get any sleep at all was to physically move the beds from the bedroom to the front room and leave the sliding doors open to get some air. It was better not to hear the awful corridor noise. But, you then had the extremely loud bar noise underneath the hotel.
One morning around 6 a.m. I was half-asleep and someone walked right past me! I thought it was my husband but I looked over and he and my son were still in bed! Someone was in the room. I screamed to my husband and he tried to chase the man out but my husband was half-asleep and didn't catch him. The man got out the front door and ran down all the stairs. He was running from the police because we were told he had hit a woman at one of the bars. A few days later they had eventually caught him.
We reported it to the staff at the hotel and the man at the desk just said, 'ugh, idiots! I hate this season! So many idiots in this hotel!' The staff just looked utterly fed up as were we.
You had to take two separate lifts just to get up to our room. Big, huge, giant cockroaches adorned the stairwells.
People surrounded the pool with loud techno music so you could not even go to the pool. I watched one guy lift someone else's child in the air really high and then dropped him crying into the pool fully clothed. He was so upset and frightened. I called security which is a total joke. It is only one guy who does nothing at all.
A family with a disabled little girl in a wheelchair had to move three times because of all the lifts and stairs and noise that was upsetting the child. It was so sad.
The resort of Santa Ponsa is lovely though but very, very Irish and Scottish and I would go back but to a different hotel on the other side of the resort. The best bar for families is 'Bar Code 7' with terrific entertainment every night. The beach is gorgeous but do not buy watermelon or soft drinks of the beach. They conned us out of £18.00 for two tiny pieces of it! Get it from the supermarket. 'Fat Sam's' has the very best food but get there early as it is always packed.

This place is spot on if you want a lively holiday. The hotel is in the centre of the lively strip. Theres even bars under the apartments!
The pool is great and theres lots of room if you prefer to get that holiday tan! Theres a games room for the bored and also a hotel bar with satelite television (shows all the footie matches!).
The thing I didn't like about this apartment was the staff.
The hotel has a security man come in at night and to say it straight, he thinks he owns the place! He was a very ignorant man and would not listen to what we had to say, probably because we were teenagers and he knew he could get away with it!One night the staff even threw a group of girls out of the hotel for a night to leave them sleep in the streets of a foreign town!!!
Feel a bit dodgy about the cleaners as my wallet went missing over night and the cleaners had been in that morning! If you can get over the staff then, these apartments are great, ecspecially for teenagers wanting a good time!

For location, I would rate 10 out of 10 for social activities; this place is right in the middle of pubs/restaurants/clubs.
The only downfall with these apartments is that there is no air-conditioning, which was crucial in August 2004. It was sooooooooo hot and sticky during the night.
Another more important issue was that the window in the bedroom, the only window in the apartment, was not an open window. If a fire started in the apartment, there was no way you could get out the window, it was actually blocked by a stone carving!?!?!?!?!?! which allowed ventilation, but nothing else. The cooking facilities were at the front of the apartment next to the entrance but the bedroom was way at the back with the only window in the place, not safe at all if a fire started.

"Sun Beach Is The Place To Stay"
Travel date:
July 2004
I stayed in the Sun Beach Apartments in July 2004 and it was the best place that you could stay. It is in the centre of town and if you are young and looking for a lively holiday, this is the place to stay. With a great pool and just a minutes walk from the beach, what else could you ask for.
In the night time you were right in the centre of town and just had to walk out the door to the restraunts and the bars..This is the place to stay. When I come back to Santa Ponca I am going to stay here.
