First of all, when we arrived, we had to pay 80 euros in case anything in our room would get damaged. When we finally got our room (after waiting for what seems like forever) it was filthy dirty!! The sheets were full of dirty spots and the toilet was not clean!

The staff didnt seem to care when we told them about it. The only thing they did was to give us a stupid cleaning brush and new sheets! We had to do it ourselves, which is completely wrong when you're teenagers on a holiday!

We changed our hotel quickly to the HM Royal Beach which was so much nicer.

I would not recommend the Sotavento to anyone.

Went out to the Sotavento with mates last summer. The rooms are really good, air conditioning is good, balcony is nice and bathrooms are really good.

Get the Magaluf Club Pass - saves you so much money. Loads of young people in the apartments and only about five minutes walk from the clubs and 15 from BCM.

Well worth the money, but don't break anything because they charge you like a grand for breaking a chair!

Review title: "Good Place To Stay"
Travel date: September 2007
Just came back from a week long holiday in Magaluf, staying in the Sotavento (went with another 21 year old friend).

Hotel was much better than we expected and very clean (if you ignore the odd comment or picture graffitied on the walls up the stairs!). There is a supermarket right next door, and the bar area serves (as well as the usual alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks) a large choice of relatively cheap and tasty food.

Rooms were spacious (well there were only two of us!) and the air conditioning system was awesome (seriously, it was more of a problem to get warm). There were tables and chairs in both the kitchenette and on the balcony and there were also two 'sofas', used as beds if there are more than two people to a room.

The one problem we had was on the day we arrived our bin was full of 'Pot Noodles' and hadn't been emptied, and a light in our room was broken, but this was all sorted quickly when we told the staff. Maid service came three times during our stay, but its pretty erratic (no one came for two days and then they changed sheets and towels two days in a row - crazy) as some people told us their rooms had only been cleaned once or twice.

Staff are friendly and will willingly give you directions to wherever you want to go, and they'll order you a taxi if you ask. (NB: there is an 80 euro deposit per room at check in!)

The pool was good (we never actually used it as we preferred the beach), if a little noisy, but if you want loud music when you are sunbathing then it is ideal. There is also a bar by the pool and quite a few sun loungers (bag them early to avoid disappointment).

The noise isn't a problem in the hotel rooms though, as they are pretty much sound proof (our room was above the pool and we could barely hear the music during the day) and you aren't really disturbed by people coming home from the clubs at four in the morning!

Hotel is almost on top of the shops, bars and restaurants which is great, but you have to negotiate a big, steep hill to get anywhere (remember, you have to climb it to get back!), but to be honest you do get used to it, and its not a big deal if you only do it once or twice a day (and its even easier if you are intoxicated!).

In short, the Sotavento is great if you are aged 18 to mid thirties, but not the best if you are older or want a peaceful holiday! The hill would also be a bit of a killer if you are taking elderly parents or grandparents - not sure they would be able to cope with it.

Me and my six friends stayed in the Sotavento this year. It was brilliant. Had such a laugh and met some brilliant people. Really happy we choose there. We would be happy any where though as long as we were on holiday having fun.

Pool area is brill because I love sunbathing and the loungers are so great. There are a few that can fit four of you on one and by the pool it gets red hot. Bit of shade until 11 ish, that's it, though.

We were a big fan of 'Bananas' - that was our favourite. Loads of funky bars too. 'Office' was cool. 'Sin', 'Romeo' and 'Lisa Maffia' too - they were quite good but come on girls, Romeo is gorgeous!

A great holiday anyway and love going with '2wentys' there. Top. Love Danny and Simon our reps - top guys genuine, mad, funny and great guys. I cant wait to go back see you on the 10th August 2007. Bring it on!

The best holiday ever. I went there with three friends who were all 18. The hotel was just young groups of friends. There's no way I would take a family there because it's really noisy and you will see all sorts like people skinny dipping in the pool at six in the morning and the security guard charging them 50 euros.

The hill is massive. It kills going to the beach but it's not too bad when you're drunk on the way home.

These apartments are the best you'll find in Magaluf. Am going back every year until am too old, plus the rep Alex is really fit and helpful.

Sotavento were nice, clean and friendly apartments. The only problem we had was that our cooker didn't work and money got pinched out of our rooms but apart from that it was brill.

The man who works on the reception is a right one. He doesn't like noise.

The hill is a nightmare four walking up but its not as bad when you are drunk. I would definitely go back there. I went in other hotels while we were there and Sotavento was definitely the best one!

The nightlife is brill and would love to go back next year!

Review title: "Sotavento Apartments Are Good"
Travel date: July 2006
Me and my partner and three children stayed here for two weeks in July 2006. The apartments were great, very clean and tidy. We had a pool view and the staff were very friendly. On our second day we found out that it was an 18 to 30s holiday resort and that there were only my children staying in the apartments. This did not put us off as all the other people there made my kids welcome. They did not use any bad language or take over the pool area as I first thought they would when I found out that it was an 18 to 30s resort.

The only problem I found with this holiday was that we were situated on a really steep hill. We were very close to the night life and it was very noisy at times but that was not a big problem. I can not fault the hotel or the staff - they were brilliant and I would stay at the Sotovento again.

Review title: "Loved It!!"
Travel date: August 2005
Me and my three friends went to stay at the Sotavento Apartments on the 9th August. The rooms were really clean and it was situated in a really good place, although the hill was an absolute nightmare. Some people said it wasn't as bad as they imagined, but we thought it was worse than imagined, but that wouldn't put us off going back there, although one of our friends did actually slip down it one night! Ha-ha.

The staff were really friendly and sorted out any problems we had straight away, although the security man on a night time doesn't like any noise what so ever, so whisper when walking past him!!

I would recommend for any young people to go and stay there, however I wouldn't recommend families with young children as it can get a bit noisy on a night time. We really enjoyed our stay there and are considering going back next year!

Review title: "Great Accommodation - Loved It"
Travel date: May 2005
Me and my 30 friends went to stay in the Sotavento Apartments on the 13.05.05 for four nights. We went for my hen weekend. The rooms were really clean and spacious, There were four in each room and we all managed fine!!

There were some great views. If you couldn't see the sea you could see the pool, so it weas great.

I would definately recommend these apartments to hen or stag parties. Whilst we were there, we saw another hen party and two stag parties which all had a lot of members in them. I would not recommend this accommodation to people with children and to couples wanting a relaxing break.

There is a monster hill to master to get back after a night out, but its ok. I really enjoyed my stay at the Sotavento and would definatley go back. The food was really nice and the staff were too. If you're looking for somewhere to stay, I definatley recommend the Sotavento.

The hotel was very poor. As for staff, the recption staff were friendly enough when they weren't chasing you with a big red stick at six in the morning. This wasn't mentioned in the brochure, plus the manager fined us 400 euros for damaging the roof which we didn't do. Thanks.

The food was good and locations fine apart from the mountain you have to climb, ok going down.

Good lads holiday, Hi to all are hotel staff friends, especially the manager and Pedro

It's been three years since we stayed in the Sotavento and have holidayed in many places since, but July 2006 we are due to return!!!! It was fab!! Nothing compares to Magaluf!!

The Sotavento apartments were spot on! Really clean, tidy, staff were excellent and food was good too! Wouldn't stay any where else but there. The location is spot on too! At the top of the main street of bars, but not too close to be noisy if you need a kip!!! Overall 10/10 for Sotavento!!!
