My family has just returned from a ten night stay at this hotel. Unfortunately, we were not aware that the whole resort closes down for the winter months, which meant that many excursions were not operating, shops, bars, restaurants packed up and also for the last few days, the hotel facilities were rapidly diminishing. As the weather was marvellous, this did not create too many problems but having a nine year old boy, it could have been different if the weather was bad.

The food was passable, although we did eat out at the end of the holiday as we felt the selection of food was determined by what was left in the larder! The staff were not very friendly with the exception of the entertainment team who soldiered on bravely despite only 30 people remaining on the last night. The Saga people did seem to have had an enjoyable time and all raved about their rep - ours left the resort two days before we did!

We have just returned from our holiday at the Ponent Playa Hotel. I chose to take my mother here and booked with Saga to celebrate her 80th birthday. What a fantastic time we had. The Saga reps and hotel staff couldn't do enough to make the occassion a really special event. They organised champagne on arrival, a birthday cake at no charge and a beautiful bouquet of flowers and presented them appropriately to make my mother's 80th birthday one that she will always treasure and remember. The food was excellent, the rooms were lovely and the hotel was immaculately clean. Unfortunately whilst we were there my mother had an accident towards the end of our holiday and fell and broke her hip. The Saga reps were excellent and the hotel staff were very efficient to ensure that we received the best medical care that we could have ever hoped for. We spent none days in the clinica Juaneda which is covered by Saga insurance and my mother underwent an operation to mend her broken bones. It was a complete success and the hospital staff, surgeons, doctors, nurses and two english interpreters, Shelley and Vivien, were absolutely fantastic. Saga looked after us from the time my mother sustained the injury until the day we were transported safely back to our local hospital in England. My mother and I can never thank the Saga reps, especially Eileen Polloot, the Resort Manager, who kept in contact throughout on a daily basis and organised our smooth transit and return home. Eileen is based at the Ponent Playa Hotel and I shall be eternally grateful to her always. The hotel staff and Saga reps were so efficient throughout to ensure that we received medical care immediately and we can assure anyone who visits the Ponent Playa that they have chosen a first class holiday. When my mother is well enough and is completely healed we shall definately return to the Ponent Playa Hotel to continue to enjoy another superb holiday where we met lots of friends and enjoyed the beautiful surroundings. My memories are such that I would consider it one of the best holidays I have been on despite my mother's unfortunate accident. As it offers something for everyone of all ages all my family, children and grandchildren will accompany us next time. Hopefully next year. I cannot rate this hotel and holiday high enough. From a very satisfied customer.
