Really recommend the Sol Jamaica. Friendly staff, loads of choice of food and clean rooms. We went as a group of six on a lads' holiday and figured even though we aren't rowdy, the chances were it could be here. However the hotel had lots of families and couples as well as groups of lads and girls. Great atmosphere with everyone having a good crack with each other. Bingo and balancing acts before a night on the town - you just can't beat it!

The rooms were filthy in the Sol Jamaica, the service was OK, but the thieving that went on was terrible. The only good thing to say was the food isn't bad and it was in a good location.

The best ever. Diego and his team at the pool bar made our holiday - a laugh a minute. Behave or else! The management are onto the baddies. We will return.

Review title: "Sol Jamaica Is Great!"
Travel date: June 2007
The Sol Jamaica was one of the best ever! It had a mixed age group, but every one got on! Great atmosphere! I wouldn't really say it was a place for families to go as the music at night was quite loud!

But I loved in and will be back in September to say good bye to the season and the PRs I met over there! Magaluf is the best place ever! Bring in next year!

Review title: "Loved Sol Jamaica "
Travel date: June 2007
Loved Sol Jamaica. Stayed there for two weeks with eight of my friends. We all enjoyed the food, we tried to make breakfast, which was lovely, however we only made it three times!

However was a bit of a walk from the night clubs and a bit more out the way but it is right across from the beach which was handy!

The maids cleaned our rooms daily and the rooms were kept very clean and tidy. The hotel had a nice atmosphere and would like to go back! Enjoyed our stay there!

I stayed in the Sol Jamaica for five nights. Just fancied a short break but I had the best time ever! It was a mixed group of people - all different ages! Every one just got on. I am definitely going to be back next year. Can't wait.

Review title: "Not Impressed"
Travel date: August 2006
Stayed here with the missus and my three year old daughter in August. What a dump! Holes in the ceiling and walls, under the beds were filthy and to top it all off, my daughter found a bag of cannabis [drugs] in the wardrobe. On reporting this, nobody seemed to be at all interested. The excuse we got was they don't have enough staff to physically search rooms. We are absolutely disgusted. Never again.

Review title: "Good Hotel"
Travel date: August 2006
First holiday abroad for our two and a half year old son so were hoping everything went well? And it did. Hotel was in a great location, food good, rooms ok (bit basic and could do with a bit of renovation but ok none the less), pool area and entertainment fine for him - impressed that they had full time life guard who actually did some work and not just sit there.

There were a few drawbacks with this hotel - inconsiderate hotel guests who ran about screaming when they got back in from discos very late and shouted to each other across balconies (hotel and nigh time security should be a bit tougher on these guests), baby pool not very clean, bar prices a bit on steep side, a lot cheaper in resort.

We booked with Globespan holidays and we feel we got value for money as it was over £500 cheaper than travelling to this hotel with one of the major tour operators.

Review title: "Sol Jamaica Truly Rocks"
Travel date: August 2005
Actually I have a confession as we were staying at the Guadalupe 100 metres away but our friends were in the Sol Jamaica. So I gate crashed the hotel's activities and collected a few certificates on the way. Piotre and Maz were great fun but Anthony was excellent. Even on his birthday his enthusiasm was brilliant and the Grease show that night was the best laugh ever. Give it a go, don't be shy as the other guests are great fun also.

Review title: "Fantastic - Book It Now!"
Travel date: July 2005
I have just returned from a week at the Jamaica and it is without doubt the best Sol hotel I have stayed in. The atmosphere was excellent with a great mix of single sex groups, young and old couples and families.

I will try to offer my views on the 4 main areas you will be most concerned with:

ENTERTAINMENT
The hotel offers a full programme of activities both night and day and for me who struggles to sit in the sun for more than one hour without getting bored and annoying my wife, this was a godsend. The activity staff: Piotre, Anthony, Maz, and the rest of the gang are enthusiastic for you to get involved but if you don't want to they won't pester you! What I do advise though, is to get the most out of your holiday and to enable you to meet new people it was a fantastic way to do it. The evening entertainment from the staff is first class. The good thing is that there are evenings where the stars are the guests. If you get chance to take part in the transvestite show do! You'll love it! Also the group ?4bidden' were excellent. Some shows after that were a little tame but still kept you attention.

FOOD
I was a little worried having read some reviews about the hotel food as I am a fussy eater and like plain foods. I needn't have worried as there was an excellent selection of meats, pastas and vegetarian foods. There was never any thought of us going out to a restaurant as we have previously. The breakfasts were first class with a great selection of hot and cold food to fill you up for the day. No worries on the food front!

POOL
The pool area is excellent providing a great atmosphere for your day. It is not the biggest pool in the world but you're not on holiday to swim lengths, its there to cool you down! We didn't once go to the beach (which is 50 yards from the hotel back gates!).There is a pool bar, and plenty of shaded areas to get away from the heat. We worried also reading other reviews about getting sun beds; I would like to know what time these people who didn't get a bed actually got up? If you arrive by the pool before 11am which is pretty late, you will get a bed, you won't be able to pick and choose your spot, but that would be the same anywhere in the med!

ROOMS
The rooms are not the best or the worst, but at the end of the day you only sleep there. The wardrobes allow you to store all your clothes in there, which I have found to be a problem in some resorts and lived half out of my suitcase. The biggest problem which is well documented is air conditioning, it doesn't have any! However the fan on the ceiling is sufficient (when in bed). It does however make a noise when it is on, so if you're a light sleeper, I would get some tablets! But that should not detract from the other fantastic attributes the hotel has.

HOTEL
Is very, very clean, very laid back, very friendly, the staff are the nicest you would ever wish to meet and speak excellent English from the cleaners, receptionists, bar staff and the entertainers speak about six languages, amazing! The hotel has table tennis, pool, and a tennis court which can be hired through the reception. The location of the hotel is tremendous. If you go out the back gate and straight ahead 30 yards away is the beach, immediately to your left 30 yards is Pizza Hut, around the corner from that is McDonalds and next to that is a place called Tom Browns if you don't want fast food! You can also get a game of mini golf at Tom Brown's which is a nice after dinner touch. The hotel is also ideally placed for the nightlife as well. The main street with all the bars on runs down to the hotel, far enough away to not get the noise but close enough to stagger home. BCM is even closer, not to be missed!

I think I have covered all angles. This hotel is ideal for anyone who enjoys good food, good service, good facilities, good entertainment and who is a good sport who likes to make an impact during their holiday. If you go and you think it's as good as what I have said, then please write a report about it as I am sure I will not be the only one to think it, when you have been. Have a good holiday

I stayed at the Sol Jamaica last year with a group of friends. It was one of the nicest and friendliest hotels. The food is lovely and swimming pools are clean. The staff were very helpful and i will be looking forward to going back this year in July.

I have been in many hotels in Mallorca, but this was the best. The staff were courteous and helpful, food was mouth watering and cleanliness excellent. I want to try to book for September 2004.

These opinions are those of HotelStreet visitors and not of HotelStreet.
