Review title: "Great Holiday"
Travel date: December 2006
Stayed here in December with my mum. Had a lovely relaxing time in relaxing surroundings. Staff were friendly and attentive. Food was absolutely gorgeous with a great choice.

Would thoroughly recommend this hotel if you enjoy good food and you want to unwind. Couldn't fault it.

Review title: "Hotel Los Gigantes - Best So Far!"
Travel date: July 2006
We had a wonderful week's holiday at this hotel. Everyone from the manager down couldn't have been more friendly or helpful. The hotel was clean and immaculate. The food was plentiful, well cooked and presented.

Our check-in was so well handled. We were on a coach full of people all coming to the same hotel and I had visions of ages spent queuing in reception. Instead, we were shown into a room where we were given a glass of wine, whilst the manager and receptionist came round and dealt with all the paperwork. We were given our room keys and our luggage arrived at our room about ten minutes later. We've not experienced service like that before. We can't compliment Senor de la Rosa and his staff enough.

Review title: "Certainly Not Gold"
Travel date: December 2005
Upon a delayed flight, courtesy of Thomson Holidays – five hours in total, we were pleased to arrive at the hotel Los Gigantes in the early hours. We were pleasantly surprised to find two salads awaiting us in our rather spacious hotel room fridge which proved to be valuable. We found it very clean but somewhat dated decor for a four star establishment.

Meal regimes were somewhat regimented in that breakfast was served between 7.30-10.00. However, rather severe looks were given from waiting staff if one dared to appear later than 9.30 a.m.! Meals were repetitive and luke warm, especially breakfasts and the tea and coffee which was all self service. A small detail of beverages served by waiting staff would have improved things immensely!

We felt (my partner and I), who are in our mid 40s, that this hotel catered solely for the more senior guest from observation 65+. For example, rather sedate daily activities, boules and afternoon quizzes.

Prior to visiting this hotel, reviews stated the attentiveness of staff and friendliness. This we did not find at all! Dishes were cleared away previous to completion of meals, banging and clattering of crockery during meals and a general miserable ambience to the whole canteen (oops, sorry, restaurant). The word 'Butlins' springs to mind.

This is a Thomson's gold hotel but I feel they should reassess their whole format. Please bear in mind, Thomson, that these so called regulars (one couple have been 50 times) will one day return no more, shall we say and that there will inevitably be a new influx of faces. However, how can a younger element be encouraged to such an out of date hotel?

These opinions are those of HotelStreet visitors and not of HotelStreet.
