"Don't Go Here!"
Travel date:
March 2008
Do not even contemplate staying here. This hotel was an absolute disgrace and not worthy of four stars. The stay at the hotel was completely unbearable and ruined my holiday. I am disgusted and shocked at how low the standard of the hotel is and I cannot understand how the hotel earns enough money to stay open as I will never stay in any H top hotel again and am sure that any person staying at the hotel feels exactly the same.
The following information is a list of the reasons why my holiday was a disaster as a result of the Royal Beach hotel.
Rude staff: All of staff, excluding the bar staff and one man working at reception, had bad manners, they were extremely rude, often making comments or faces at the people staying in the hotel. They had no idea how to do their job properly and were no help when asking questions and making enquiries. On arrival at the hotel we checked in and were told that our room was 151. At this the man on reception left, leaving us to find the stairs and to work out, out of the six floors, what one we was staying on. No-one showed us around the hotel, helped us with bags or gave us any indication of where to find our room. As a four star hotel this is the bare minimum that staff should be capable of doing! I work 8 hours a week as a sales assistant and give my customers more respect and a better service then staff give residents at the hotel.
Staff were extremely unhelpful. My partner and I wanted to visit Barcelona by ourselves and asked a member of staff how to get there. The man working told us that we had to get a bus and two trains to Barcelona when in fact it was only a bus and one train. If we had not asked again we would have got lost and ended in a completely different place then we intended.
Room: My partner and I paid for a double room which is twin beds pushed together but one cover for both people to sleep under. However, when we got there our room was actually twin beds pushed together with separate covers. The rooms were equipped with TVs, however a 20 euro deposit was needed to get the remote, which again was not mentioned on the website. The TV had a DVD channel which, out of the six days we stayed, played 'The Matrix' four times and 'Titanic' twice.
Health and safety: The health and safety of the hotel was appalling. In the so called 'arcade', wires were exposed and easily reached by children and a disgusting sewage smell seeped up from under the floors in the arcade room. Myself and my partner also contracted horrible sore itchy rashes that covered our bodies. When sleeping in my own bed after, one night the rash had cleared up dramatically.
Food: To put it simply, the food in the hotel was inedible. Most dishes were not cooked properly, the meat was still pin and, the pasta was hard. I tried some sweetcorn, which to my horror had not been cooked, and was served in the grimy sauces that is in the can. The vegetables were always over cooked. Both myself and my partner had stomach problems and were constantly on the toilet. On several occasions, just on the sight of the food I began gagging. Due to the fact that we had paid to be all inclusive and expected decent meals, we did not bring enough money to eat out etc. As a result we had to substitute visiting attractions so that we could buy snacks to eat as the thought of eating the food provided made me rather not eat at all.
All inclusive: We paid for all inclusive. This means all meals and drinks are free. Not surprisingly, this was not the case with the hotel as most drinks were displayed at a reduced price for those that were all inclusive and only locally sourced drinks were free. This is false advertising as this is not what all inclusive is.
Entertainment: The hotel website boasted great entertainment. Again this is false advertising as out of the six nights we stayed at the hotel, the disco was on four times and continuously played the same songs. The hotel also mentions great activities during the day. However, the only activity we saw was darts and this was only activity that commenced over the seven days. As a result of this, I stayed in my room three days straight watching German MTV because being downstairs left me completely bored!
The hotel said it was close to a train station. Again this was wrong as the train station was a bus journey away and once we got into Blanes, we walked around for an hour trying to find the station, which in the end we could not find.
The excursions were extremely over priced - 15 euros per person to Barcelona is outrageous. My partner and I embarked on the tour around Barcelona and like the hotel, this was a complete let down. The priorities of the excursion were wrong. An hour and 15 minutes was spent in Barcelona stadium, however we just drove past Gaudi's famous houses. We were travelled up a mountain to look out at Barcelona, however we were not allowed out of the coach to take pictures. We spent two hours at Las Ramblas but after 40 minutes, we had finished looking around and were annoyed that we spent the next hour and a half walking around aimlessly, when we could have visited Guadi's park etc.
The hotel also said that it supplied a solarium, a jacuzzi and sauna. However not once was the area containing these things open. Out of the 11 arcade games, only four games actually worked.
Noise: The cleaning staff were extremely noisy in the morning and constantly woke me up as a result. The disco was so loud that I could hear the words of the songs in my room. The doors separating the reception and the bar area were not allowed to be shut which would have made a big difference to the noise.
From the moment we looked around the hotel both myself and my partner wanted to go home. We hated our stay so much that on finding out that flights back to England were being cancelled due to the snow, we agreed that we would rather sleep in the airport then to stay another night at the Royal Beach hotel.

Well, I went to the Royal Beach hotel for the last week in February. The weather was OK, not sunbathing weather but warm.
There was a group of three adults and one child. We had two rooms. One room was bigger than the other room and they were both twin rooms. Tip when booking your room and ask for a sea view - they are bigger rooms. The food was fine. The staff very friendly. There are lots of shops but you must barter with the prices to get your bargains. Yes, I would go again.

Just back a day and it was great. We were meant to stay in the Royal Star but got changed to the Royal Beach at the last minute.
The rooms are great, nice bathrooms, beds and so clean - not a thing out of place. Food was good and always loads. We were all in so the drink was good - definitely a four star hotel and I will be going back in the summer.

"Royal Beach Alright, Half And Half"
Travel date:
October 2007
I've been twice to the Royal Beach and now booking a third time without my parents, partially because I know the area now, but the beach is just a couple minutes walk and shops all near to the hotel.
Everything was okay, apart from some meals. Breakfast was sometimes not edible, but most things for lunch and dinner were okay.
Cleaners were fine, they were friendly, although were noisy in the morning singing and shouting to each other, which wasn't the best when I just wanted to lie in. The reception staff were generally rude, looking at you and giving you faces if they didn't understand you. If you work in a hotel where the majority of the people staying speak English, I think they should learn or be taught the language so they understand what we are asking for. The bar staff were also pretty appalling. They spent most of their time chatting up young girls, rather than serving half the people, and when asking for drinks, they would shout at people to speak up and make remarks.
I just go to relax so let things like this pass by, but for people who aren't so easy going and find the littlest things annoy them, I wouldn't recommend going.
Also, I got stuck in the lift that many times. Most of the time people had to go up the stairs as they were out of order that many times, and every morning the maids wash the stone marble stairs without putting signs - very slippery! Last year I saw three people falling and slipping, one old lady quite seriously. Reception did nothing, surprisingly!

The staff were brill, especially the bar staff. The food was OK but all they had for snacks was chips all the time.

The Royal Beach hotel has everything you need, for all ages. The food is one of the best compared to surrounding hotels and the cleaners work very hard. Been going back every year since I was 14. I am now 22. Experience it yourself! You will love it.

"Royal Beach OK"

The hotel was very clean and the staff were very friendly but the majority of people were smoking in all parts of the hotel. As non smokers we hated it. The smell hit you as you left your own room. Some of the evening entertainment was ok. My daughter enjoyed the kids' disco but the smell of cigarette smoke was overbearing.
The swimming pools were not heated and they were freezing. The food was very well presented but just was not enjoyable at all. The snacks were chips, burgers, frankfurters and toast every single time. Breakfast was OK but my daughter and I just lived on the buns they had and a kiwi fruit every day. There are several cafes nearby and we usually had our breakfasts there.
The local beaches of Lloret de Mar and the shops were great. We spent a lot of time exploring the area. We went to Barcelona on a trip to see the football ground and the fountains. Both of these are worth a visit. The boat that goes to Tossa de Mar is also worth going on if the sea is not too rough as it is a hour's trip.

Been to H.Top Casino Royal and H.Top Royal Star, so as you can tell we recommend this branch of hotels.

We are just back from one week all inclusive.
The hotel was lovely and clean, maid service every day. The staff were very pleasant, the entertainment however was not up to much most nights. A very busy hotel, queues for everything all day long.
The food was OK, something for everyone each night. The snacks were not very good, the same snacks all day every day.
If you are up for a laugh and don't mind noise most of the time, then this hotel is for you. Great value for the money we paid.

My holiday in Lloret was the first holiday that I have had away with one of my friends and I really really loved it. Although my friend's parents went, we always did our own things. The food in the hotel wasn't the best but you couldn't really complain about that when everything else was perfect!!!!!!
The staff were all very friendly especially the barmen :-) We became really good mates with them and they made our stay at the hotel even better!
The local bar across the road (Robin Hood) was brilliant. We went every night and had the best laugh we also got to know the staff in there as well. They were all very friendly and helpful!
Its the first holiday that I have been on that I actually didn't want to come home from. I cried the whole way home and so did my friend!
!!!BEST HOLIDAY EVER!!!
WE ARE DEFINATELY GOING BACK THERE NEXT YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!

I took my daughter and my niece to the Royal Beach and we thought it was lovely....the hotel was spotless, the staff friendly and the evening entertainment was great, the food was nice but there were a lot of fish dishes and Spanish dishes that were not always suitable. However, there was normally something to choose from and the times when they had delicious food out more than made up for it!!! I would definitely go again.

The area was fantastic with the town and beach within walking distance. I enjoyed the entertainment and the pub across the road (Robin Hood) was fantastic and welcomed you warmly and made you feel comfortable.
I can't wait until I return to the Royal Beach, it was the best holiday ever.

I've stayed at the Royal Beach Hotel twice now and loved it. The atmosphere was brilliant, the staff were very friendly and me and my friends got to know the barmen and the entertainment people very well.
There is a pub across the road called Robin Hood and that pub was probably the best experience of my life. It was fantastic.
The main town wasn't very far away so it was easy to just walk in when you wanted to and the beach was just around the corner. Me and my friends are going back this year and probably every year. I just cant wait!!
