Review title: "Beware!"
Travel date: August 2007
If you are booked to stay at this hotel - make sure you check your details very carefully! My father booked this hotel for me as a present. He booked through UK Travel Shop, but apparently we were with ABC Beds as our agent. We also were handed a rep envelope from someone called Laeitana Tours at the airport so had no idea who to speak to about our problem and each company passed the buck or said they would call back and didn't! We had to travel to another resort, Lloret, just to see our rep, so thank goodness it wasn't life threatening - quite!

I have to say that the hotel itself seemed rather nice and the food was adequate. There was a sister hotel opposite the road which was far nicer and we were allocated on arrival knowing that we would be in the Tossa Beach or the Tossa Centre across the road. However, when arriving at 1 a.m. we were surprised that the porter was willing to carry our cases to our room, something we did not see anyone else getting who arrived in the day or who wasn't on our floor. We both declined the lift, being claustrophobic and took the stairs on the third floor. The porter joined us explaining that the lift didn't go to the fourth floor, that may be something to do with the fact that the fourth floor was in fact an attic and we were placed in an attic room with no window!

If you look at details of the hotels, both say about balconies and full bathroom. I have pictures of the tiny room we were put in - the bathroom shower had a bath underneath which my 5'4" friend could sit in and her legs were the same length as the bath. My head touched the roof when showering, so thank goodness there was no one tall in our party because I am only 5'6" and anyone above this would have had to kneel! The roofs were sloping and there was a sky light, which was also tiny and which we doubted would pass safety regulations in the UK, due to the fact that you could not pass a person through it. There was also no fire exit on this floor or fire route as on the other floors of this hotel. There was not a window along the whole corridor. If this hotel had a fire, we would have died. There is no way we could have got through the sky light and no one could have got in to get you out! We actually believed that no one even knew this floor existed unless they were inside it due to the fact that if you view pictures of the hotel, you will count three balconies and then see a plinth - we were in that plinth!

As the porter showed us in he said 'if you are unhappy with room you may change tomorrow'. We thought this was weird until we looked inside! We marched straight back downstairs and they wouldn't move us. They told us to return at 8 a.m. We did this with cases, so the fourth time to have walked up four flights with them! The night worker was replaced by a lady saying 'no' to changing before we even spoke to her. She said the other guy didn't know what he was talking about. Then we waited another hour for the manager who also said 'I can't help you' before he even knew what our problem was! We called all the numbers we had for people who are supposed to help us but half of those numbers were wrong. I called my father in England who was told we shouldn't be in this room and it would be sorted but none of us heard anything. So please, if you are staying here make sure that you don't have a sheet saying anything unspecific - ours said twin room - but above it said this holiday was 'a special' and this was apparently enough. I had no idea that attic rooms even existed! We had our holiday ruined by spending two days trying to get something done and tracking down a rep just to have someone to talk to. We were only there five days and you could not possibly spend a week here unless you are happy to stay in an attic! If you have a normal room I'm sure it would be fine, but if you're unlucky like us, then watch out!

The pool is also small and in the summer holidays it only takes one large group to take it over/ Fine if you have your own balcony, but even worse if you have no where to go! I hope that people may read this and also complain because I feel a responsibility to ensure no one else is put at risk by staying here!

By the way – all the details for this hotel say 160 rooms over four floors. If you count the rooms on the ground floor, then the balconies – one, two, three – our floor is not even mentioned and certainly did not have the facilities stated.
