"Really Enjoyed My Stay At Amatista Apartments"

Just come back from a fantastic week at the Amatista apartments. We had a two bedroom apartment with sea view and I have to say this was probably one of the best two bed apartments we have stayed in.
The location was absolutely superb - 30 metres from the beach. Walk down to the beach and turn right and you have a massive selection of restaurants and a five to ten minute walk along the promenade took you into Calpe town, which had a large supermarket (Solymar) and a vast array of traditional Spanish bars, Irish pubs and restaurants. The mini train stopped five minutes away from the apartment in front of the beach and that took you to the harbour and around Calpe. You could actually walk to the harbour from the apartment (turn left and walk along the promenade). The walk took ten minutes. At the harbour lots of boats left for various different locations. We had a hire car for the week but to be honest, you didn't really need it as everything was at hand.
We couldn't believe how cheap everything was. A three course meal would cost eight euros 60 and that included a bottle of wine. We visited Majorca in June 2008 and in comparison, the food at Calpe was less than half price. We drove to Benidorm for a day and left after 15 minutes. It was just like Blackpool with sun. Calpe is typically for an upmarket family holiday without the larger louts. There were a lot of middle aged couples there and families with small children. We travelled with two kids, three and nine months old.
The only thing I would say against the apartments is that they charged us 40 euros for six nights cot hire. We could have purchased a travel cot at the local supermarket for 29 euros! Also, the apartment only had spanish TV and didn't have a kettle but we just used the microwave to boil water in cups for coffee.
The pool area wasn't great. It was very clean but just looked not very welcoming, which didn't bother us as the beach was within a stone's throw.
The apartment had an en suite bathroom, washing machine and the biggest balcony we have ever seen. The balcony had two sun loungers on it and a table and chair set that seated six people. The views out to sea were stunning and the balcony was also very safe for children. We were on the 15th floor apartment 115A. The apartments are mainly used by Spanish people who are on holiday and some are privately owned by Spanish people. The Spanish absolutely love children so we had no complaints at all. Its been the most relaxing holiday I've had for some time and with two kids in tow, that's saying something. We will definitely be back to Calpe and will definitely stay here again!
