The Altamadores has nice pleasant rooms but lack of air conditioning made sleeping a little uncomfortable in the heat. Pleasant walk to the beach down the twisty road but if you're not a walker, taxis are a plenty.
Good places to visit in Puerto Rico include 'Harley's' for a few beers and 'Terito Negro' for a nice big steak.

We booked a last minute desperately needed break and we're absolutely delighted. A large airy room, which was cleaned five out of seven days. The pool area was the main hub of the place both day and night. The Altamadores staff were really helpful plus there's a small Spar shop right under the hotel. Really good.

"Holiday"

I review this holiday as an eight. The Altamadores apartments were very clean and well set out. The pool was clean at all times and it was a very pleasant place to say. I have already recommended it to people.
The only reason it didn't make a ten was so very hot and could have done with air con for night times! Although there are ceiling fans it only circulates the warm air. But would definitely come back again.

"Altamadores - Will Be Back For More!"

Holiday from 13th to 21st May 2006. Will be recommending the apartments to everyone. I enjoyed the 15 minute walk (down a steep road) to get to the lovely Amadores Beach but was equally happy lazing by the pool on the immaculately kept terrace. Service was superb.
This is a Ving recommended hotel - so we were one of only two Brit couples - all other guests Spanish or Scandinavian. The apartments were clean, the noise level minimal with no noise at all after 11 p.m. Restaurant prices very reasonable (five euros for a serve-yourself-all-you-can-eat buffet breakfast) and good a la carte evening menu. Satellite television is available (by coin-slot television) and the ten euros I fed into the TV lasted all week - including watching all the Spanish grand prix and the Eurovision Song Contest). Room safe available for 10.50 euros for the week - roomy enough to hold all valuables and canon rebel camera with additional lenses.
However the real selling point for these apartments is the staff. Throughout the whole week we were greeted with cheery ‘Holas' and warm smiles. The level of service was faultless - and nothing was too much trouble for the staff, who would organize taxis, flag down passing buses and supply endless euros for internet facilities in the lobby (50 cents for ten minutes - one Euro for 30 minutes - excellent value).
Another plus for the self caterers is that there is a Spar located on the ground floor of the apartments open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. daily (closing at 2 p.m. on Sundays) with a good stock of foreign newspapers, English foods (Walkers crisps, Heinz beans, HP sauce are just some of the items available), delicious fresh bread, meats, cheeses and fruit and vegetables, together with all those items that you forget to pack (aloe vera gel, plasters, wet wipes… you get the idea).
Temperature was 34 degrees with a cloudless blue sky and ten hours of solid sunshine. (The terrace gets the sun from 8 a.m. until 7 p.m. and is a real sun-trap, so take care not to overdo it like I did the first day!)
As I said, I would recommend the apartments to anyone who doesn't mind the walk down or up the hill, although I am torn as part of me wants to keep it ‘my secret' so that it's still as unspoiled and relaxing when I go back next year and the year after and the year after!
