"Internacional II Aparthotel"

July 2008
Just returned from a ten night stay at the Internacional II. Was very apprehensive after reading negative reviews, but was pleasantly surprised. Rooms are basic, but clean and no nasty smells or stains as read about. Have to pay a deposit of 100 euros, so check your room first. Lifts were very quick and staff very friendly, especially the reps Tom and Nicola - they were brilliant and kept kids and adults fully entertained day and night.
Lots of places to eat nearby. We found the 'Texas Embassy' just up the road to be the cheapest and nicest around. Also the 'Comedy Bar' over the road was great, but a little more expensive though.
So don't be put off by what you have previously read. Family of four - two adults and two kids aged 13 and 7.

"Stay Clear Of Stalag II"

On arrival, the Internacional II hotel looked nice from the outside and walking into the reception area, things looked promising. Entered the room and it is the biggest hole I have ever stayed in, in my life. I would have sooner spent two weeks sleeping in cardboard city in the London Docklands. The room was filthy, the sheets were stained, had holes in them and smelt of wee. When you went to the bathroom, you were greeted by the wandering around of poor Spanish ants, trying to escape a fate worse than death. Towels were changed four times over the two weeks and the bed linen once. Room was never cleaned and had to do this ourselves, even though our mop was full of hairs and didn't even have a brush! If you tried to warm up a bit of soup for the little ones, the electricity blew and you had to keep switching it back on by the tripper switch.
Went downstairs to drown my sorrows and came across the worst entertainer in my life, whose sole act was getting grown men up, asking them to retrieve items from ladies, (i.e. shoes, lipstick, bras) and dressing them for a competition called 'Miss Salou 2008' - and this was supposed to be entertainment for our teenage daughter. The entertainers could not organise a sweet club. The best part of the entertainment that night was the parrot show.
After all the problems we encountered, we asked to be moved only to be told we had to pay 300 euros. They should have paid us that to stay there!
Had a boss time with the lads from South Wales in the rooms next to us, a great bunch of people.
We requested a pool view and what a view we got! We looked outside from our balcony only to find five great big bins in the street (by the way, the bin men come to empty the bins between 2 and 3 a.m. every morning - watching these was more entertaining than watching the shows downstairs).
The pool was absolutely freezing, even on a very hot day.
Didn't eat from the hotel, but what we saw you wouldn't even give to the rats.
Went to PortAventura, which was brill - a bit pricey when you get in for something to eat. Did not have to queue up for that long, but it was early in the season. Rides are fantastic and daughter (13) really enjoyed herself.
Went to Aquapolis (water park), which was a bit on the small side, but was great and even had a seal and dolphin show included in the price which was great.
'Chippies' was good and at reasonable prices, the girls there made you feel welcome. Don't go to the Chinese on the front street, just past 'Gabbers' - you don't get your meal you ordered and then they try and bill other people for what you have not had. 'Rosie's Return' was nice. Go and get your photo taken with the European Cup in 'Shankley's Bar'. Don't go and see Elvis at 'Sinatra's' unless you take the words with you so he can read them whilst he is singing, Elvis would have turned in his grave, awful performance! There's a hotel opposite 'Shamrock's' bar - great night out - has a 3.00 a.m. bar and happy hour. Entertainment is fantastic.
The best part of the holiday was when we got home and the Mrs found out that she was five months pregnant!

"Not As Bad As People Say"

Just back from a week in Salou. Went as a young couple in our early twenties. So first of all, we weren't too picky about where we went. All we wanted was a basic sun holiday, and that's what we got.
The Internacional II apartments are basic. Two single beds, little fridge, little cooker and bathroom. Try not to get floor up so high. We stayed on the fourth floor, lifts took ages and going up and down stairs is nightmare. We found the rooms to be OK. The usual, and what we expected, although comments of the cleanliness are true. Towels were filthy by the time we finally got new ones, bed linen wasn't cleaned for the week either.
Pool is good - two separate pools. We spent most our time here. Could always get a sun bed at any time, morning or evening. Closes at 7 p.m.
Entertainment at the hotel is excellent. We both enjoyed it very much, its for all ages!
Salou itself is also a good spot, lots to see and do. We took a trip to Barcelona, which was an hour and twenty minutes by bus. Went to the Nucamp stadium, an aquarium and to the magic fountains. Long day, but worth seeing all. We also went to PortAventura, ten minutes away by bus. Stay until 12 to see the show, very good!
The beach is five minutes walk up by the apartments. Nice beach. Loads of places to eat and drink in Salou. We didn't eat much here as we tried other places. Next door is a very nice place, also good entertainment! Nice Irish bar up the road, does lovely breakfasts. We both had a brilliant week in Salou. Weather was fab, so what more could you want!

Was a bit worried before I went due to some of the reviews I had been reading but we found it was nothing like they said. Some staff friendly, rooms were clean enough. We didn't use the entertainment much but what we saw was rubbish.
We went to 'Jimmy's' karaoke bar. The staff were great. Jimmy is brilliant and he and his wife made us feel really welcome. They put on shows, as well as a good sing song. If you like karaoke 'Jimmy's' is the best place to go as others are really smelly and dirty.
For eating out 'Sinatra's' is OK but the '19th Hole' does a mean mince and potatoes and 'Richard's Tavern is good as they give you loads on your plate.
My family would go back to Salou and would use the Internacional II apartments again.

Would not stay at the Internacional II again. Rooms very basic, not much in them, although I guess they are only for sleeping in. Staff friendly enough, pool looked very clean, never got into it, mostly went down to the beach which is lovely, sandy both in and out of it. Very steep walk back up from the sea, so beware anyone with breathing problems or disabilities. but it is well worth it.
Great club right next door called 'Sinatras', great entertainment. And Steve who is on for breakfast in the morning is so nice, good laugh. Area lovely and clean. Take a lovely little train ride and see some of the sights around and down by the sea. Won't go back again, as been there done that, but all worth a visit.

Stayed from 7th to 14th of May 2007 and my girlfriend has to use a wheelchair every so often. The rooms were not wheelchair friendly but the help from the excellent staff made up for this. Would stay there again.

I've been to most places in Spain but I came to Salou twice. I stayed in Internacional 11 both times because of the entertainment. Russell is a legend.

The Internacional II was a great and an ideal place to base your holiday from, with a short walk to the main strip and to the Capellans beach. Staff was very friendly and entertainment was brill with both adults and kids of all ages. Pool was very clean, if a bit cold!
