Great place to stay. Very clean pools. Great. All the staff are friendly and helpful and its pretty quiet so relaxing, also compared to what you would get in Puerto del Carmen!
Definitely suited towards couples/families. Either will really enjoy this place. If you are going with a group of friends for a week long binge drinking session, then maybe not but as I said, if you're going with the other half the Villa Canaima doesn't disappoint, to be honest.

"Great Place To Stay"
Travel date:
July 2007
I just returned from a week's holiday in the Villa Canaima and it was one of the nicest places I've ever stayed in.
I booked it last minute and was a bit nervy when I read the last review posted of it.
Thought it might be suited for older people (no offence) but there was a great mix of people. When my boyfriend and I arrived at the resort we were checked in quickly and given a free two litre bottle of water which I thought was nice.
You do have to pay for the kettle lead but it's not expensive. I didn't bother, just used the saucepans in the room. You can get a safe which is quite big and you can rent adaptors if you forgot to bring them (as I did) and they are only three euros. There is a TV with Sky movies, sky sports and sky news.
The apartment is big enough and has air conditioning (have to pay) but the rooms are cool enough. The pool isn't that big, it has a baby pool, shallow end and deep end. It's not as bad as the complex isn't huge. I found that it was freezing going in to but it was grand after a couple of minutes but that was because it was so hot!
There is a road next to the apartments but it isn't as busy as I thought it would be. There is a restaurant and bar on site and the couples who run that are lovely. The food is nice and very cheap. The rooms got cleaned everyday and fresh towels were provided as well.
The shopping centre in Matagorda is about five to ten minutes walk and they have a couple of good bars and restaurants but you'd have more selection in Puerto del Carmen which is only about five minutes in a taxi and there is a taxi rank about 50 metres from the apartments. It's about four to four and a half euros to get into Puerto del Carmen. If you wanted to walk, it would take about 20-30 minutes but its a nice walk. I would recommended this place to anyone and will certainly be going back next year.

"Villa Canaima Apartments Are Fab"

Just back from two weeks holiday in Villa Canaima. These are the best apartments I have ever stayed in, in Matagorda. Very quiet at night which suited us because we had three small children with us. Paul and Sharon run the pool side snack bar. They are both very friendly and made us feel so welcome. Nothing is a bother to them and they will go out of their way to make your holiday the best ever. The food is brilliant and there is a good selection to choose from. I recommend trying the specials on a Wednesday and Friday.
Apartments are spotless and cleaned almost everyday. There are a good selection of shops nearby and the beach is only down the road. I have to say I could not fault these apartments at all.

"Would Not Stay Here Again"

Just back from two weeks at this complex. I was never so glad to check out of a place. The walls were so thin you could hear the people next door sneeze. The pool was tiny and freezing and the complex was right on a busy road. The noise was so bad that on the second week I checked into another hotel for a couple of nights to get some sleep. I wouldn't go back if I was offered a free holiday there.

"Villa Canaima In January!"
Travel date:
January 2007
I travelled to Lanzarote and stayed at Villa Canaima for one week in January. Having been to Matagorda two and a half years previous, I was familiar with the resort and absolutely loved it! Villa Canaima was well located within Matagorda, a mere five minutes from the airport on transfer which is ideal when travelling with children. The apartments were very spacious and spotlessly clean on arrival.
The facilities were very adequate for a one week stay, nice apartment, nice pool and bar, helped by having 'Ruby S' poolside bar and restaurant within the complex owned by Paul and Sharon who made our holiday much more enjoyable with the provision of fine food and alcohol throughout at very reasonable prices.
The apartments were full to capacity all week which says a lot about the popularity of this complex in January. Puerto del Carmen was a three euro / fifty taxi ride away and very accessible by foot as well. A bit busier than Matagorda and slightly cheaper also but wouldn't fancy staying there. Overall I would recommend Villa Canaima and the resort of Matagorda and most definitely plan on returning there again soon!
