Well, where should I start? The Heliomar was the worst place I have ever stayed! There were so many break ins and we got broken in to! And the reception did nothing about it! You couldn't have your door open at all! The room was too warm - no air conditioning. We had our room cleaned once the whole week we were there. We had clean towels once!

There was no security guard on at night. The pool was never cleaned and the rooms was awful. I would never go back!

We stayed at the Heliomar apartments in 2006 and decided to go back this year after a nightmare apartment last year. They are in a great location. I hate steps but even lazy me managed them and treated myself to a designer handbag after a fortnight of no taxis!

We had a lovely two bedroom apartment that had been newly decorated and new kitchen fitted. Good food served at the pool bar that was very reasonably priced. Simple but good. For just £200 a week, its a bargain. Book flights and accommodation separately and you won't be disappointed.

I would not recommend the Heliomar to stay in. When we first arrived at the apartments at seven in the morning, we could not get in as the gates were locked. I luckily had the apartment's number saved in my phone. This must have woken up the 'security guard' as he strolled out in his shorts to let us in. Our key was hanging up on a wall outside reception as reception is only open few hours a day.

The room was fine. Clean, spacious and big balcony. The week went grand until our second last night we were broken into. No money was taken from us as we had been informed by other guests that break ins happen regularly. My boyfriend had stashed our money. 1,400 euros were stolen from another guest the day we arrived and apparently break ins are a weekly thing. The key to the rooms for new guests are hanging on the wall all day so anyone can walk in take them and copy them.

The bar staff were lovely but the receptionist was unhelpful. Think again before booking here.

If you are thinking about staying in the Heliomar apartments, please don't. On arrival there was nobody to greet us, just a key pinned to a notice board with all our personal details on display. The reception (if open) is very rude and uncooperative. We had to move apartments because of attempted break ins.

The pool bar was satisfactory. The staff at the pool bar where friendly and the only staff there. Fitted kitchen? You have to rent everything. Overall the apartments were clean but I wouldn't recommend them to anyone.

I'm coming back to Heliomar at least twice every year. Been
there since 1985. The staff is very pleasant. Mr. Ormeno in the pool bar is an example for everyone when it comes to service. Three stars in the Michelin Guide.

There's a lot to be said for the Heliomar but I'm not allowed to say but I can say that after five days we moved apartments. Clean, friendly, entertainmnet?

Supermarket only when the chap feels like opening. The bar only open until six every night.

Puerto Rico itself was fantastic. We have been going for the last eight years and will be going again for many years to come.

I have been in 2006 and 2007 and if going back, I would definitely stay there again. I stayed in these apartments for a month in 2006 and found it great. The location is amazing. It is one of the closest apartments to the the centre, approximately three minutes walk.

The rooms are great, very spacious and every apartment has their own balcony which has a great view to the whole centre of Puerto Rico.

The pools are great with a kids' pool and bigger pool. There is also a deep pool up on the top floor of the apartments which is great if you are on a romantic holiday as no children are allowed to be up there.

Unfortunately, there is no entertainment in the apartments, but, there is no entertainment in any of the apartments within Puerto Rico.

There is a shop right beside the apartments which is very handy as you can walk down in a bikini etc., so you don't have to get ready to go to the centre.

The beach is approximately eight to ten minutes walk which is brilliant!

I have recommended the Heliomar Apartments and would definitely go back some time.

Heliomar are in a perfect position, not too close to the centre of the night-life but its close enough to walk to and more importantly to walk back from!

The apartments are clean and basic - cooking facilities, cooker, fridge etc. The pools are great, probably in need of a lick of paint but for such a great price, who cares.
Pool bar clean, average menu of toasties, pizzas etc, reasonably priced. Happy hour daily for drinks. Free sunbeds and mattresses for them. Top tip - ask for the key to the lock up where they keep the mattresses from pool bar - it's up the end near the toilets. We never realised this until last day!

All in all, a great place. We have stayed here five times and could never fault it.
