Review title: "Resort Great, Hotel Facilities Poor"

I read reviews before I booked, they were mixed and I thought, well, you can't please every one. Green Beach hotel has too many niggly faults, which out way the good that the whole resort has to offer. I went with my 11 year old son for one week

Pool: Guard attendant way to strict, no fun allowed, no balls, no lilos, no bombing and my main argument with him was my son was not allowed to wear a t-shirt in the pool to protect him from the sun. I queried this with the reception, as the warning board did not quote no T shirts but it seemed that each guard has his own rule.

Entertainment: One man and his guitar, every night, singing the same old country songs.

Hotel Reps: They came around for the kids twice a day. Rubbish games for kids, board games, darts, bingo (yawn) for an 11 year old.

Pool side bar: Pizzas, burgers etc were to be supplied at 11 a.m. Cooking this was always late and there were never enough to go around. You had to wait and queue, to make sure you didn't miss out.

Food: First day thought, this looks good, but each day was the same - not appealing when on holiday.

Weekends: Spanish own many rooms on ground floor and use these holiday flats every weekend. Large families take over the hotel and hog the sunbeds.

Overall review: Lovely area, lovely beaches. Do not stay at this hotel, stay in Anfi (just up the road).

Review title: "Green Beach Hotel Great! "
Travel date: October 2006
We arrived at 4 a.m. on the Sunday morning to be greeted with, I think, a Spanish speaking man (he only grunted at us so we didn't quite catch an accent). He took our passports from us and put a yellow band around our wrist, gave us a piece of paper with a few circles on it and then a card to get into the room. He then pointed at the lift and grunted our room number. We found our room and made ourselves at home; we had been travelling door to door for 12 hours so we were shattered. We checked the meal times on the piece of paper he had given us and saw that breakfast was 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. so we settled down to a much needed kip.

When we woke, we discovered the room was lovely and clean and had a fantastic sea view - basic but very clean. We went for breakfast and the food was lovely, although there were lots of English people moaning about it but there again, when you come to England for a holiday you get English food in restaurants so obviously when you go to Spain, you get Spanish food.

After breakfast, we checked out the area and discovered a lovely beach about 200 yards from the back gate of the hotel which was locked. We discovered after three days of walking round that if you asked for a key, you were given one. It would have been nice to get a key when we arrived.

We had no complaints about the food, it was fresh daily and very nice. We were quite confused with the all inclusive arrangements though. There was a poolside bar when you could get drinks from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. but not anything you wanted from the menu unless you paid for it. All inclusive guests were restricted to a set menu and this consisted of, tea and biscuits, and mini sandwiches. The waiters really were very rude. They made the people on all inclusive feel as though they had to beg for anything. If you asked for a beer, you got it in the smallest paper cup they had, slammed down in front of you and a grunt and if you were very lucky a nod. If you were a paying guest (some of them were self catering) you got the biggest pint glass for your beer, a smile and lots of jokes. Obviously they would be getting tips from the paying guests but not from the all inclusive guests as they had already paid for their refreshments etc.

The kids' club was just off the restaurant (open plan i.e. same room). This was from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. Great for kids but not for the adults without kids who had no option but to eat their meals to ‘Agadoo' and the ‘Hokey Kokey'! The bar closed at 11 p.m. and if you wanted drinks after this time, you had to pay for them, yes, even if you were all inclusive.

There was a British girl on the reception who was very helpful but the male receptionists were very abrupt and very, very unhelpful. We had a great time at the Green Beach. Plenty of sun beds, 33 degrees (even in October) and a lovely quiet beach. It's a pity that we went all inclusive as I'm sure if I had been a paying guest I would have had a better time.
