"Sol Parc Apartments Not Too Good For Us"
Travel date:
August 2008
This was a last minute booking and not cheap, my wife and I and two four year olds all paying £580.00 each for one week.
Apartment very small, old, dated and very depressing to be in, so we weren't very much! Children sleeping on a sofa with the bottom sliding out to provide another concrete mattress. Carry on camping with the tin kettle on a hot ring! If you want a toaster that's 11 euros to hire.
Resort 90 per cent for Dutch tourists although they were very nice. The kids' club was great for the little ones providing you were Dutch! Our children were not permitted to take part in the activities. This is awful to explain to a child when a clown appears who will not acknowledge them as they were not wearing the correct T shirt.
Lots of shady areas to keep the sun off the children and overall facilities good for the children apart from the kids' club! Evening entertainment absolutely appalling.
Bar facilities need demolishing, in fact the entire apartment complex could really do with a major makeover. Most staff were polite. Beach stunning. Outside the complex there was not much at all.
Would most definitely not return. We had a great fun week nevertheless but thank goodness it was only a week. Sorry if I am causing anyone to worry.
By the way, our UK tour operator listed the Confortel Sol Parc as three star accommodation so we expected reasonable comfort. This translates to two keys in Menorca so beware.

"Sol Parc - We loved It"
Travel date:
June 2005
We had a ground floor one bedroom apartment. The veranda was spacious, full size bathroom, good shower, TV, phone, microwave. The downsides were: not a great kitchenette, fridge with tiny freezer drawer, utensils weren't great, old tin kettle.
Facilities were great. There was always activities, two kids' clubs. The main one operating twice most days for two hours each time. The kids got free gifts as well. The second one, smaller, but catered for kids whose parents were taking part in their own activies, eg. badminton, tennis, volleyball, archery, pistol shooting, football, table tennis. Very well organised. All staff knew what was happening and when and everyone made you feel welcome.
I don't agree with many of the other reviews of the pine trees creating too much shade and darkness. The pool is not constantly in the shade. It's perfect because you can have shade or sun. There was also plenty of space around the pools. There was a great crazy golf course and children's play areas. The beach was beautiful and the walkway was dodgy (but rather amusing!) when we were there.
The prices weren't too bad. We found the food to be fine. We tried various chicken dishes, Italian dishes and fish dishes. The strip, although not that long, has just enough variety. We didn't hire a car and we didn't need one. We were on the resort or the beach most of the time. There was always something to do.
Finally, saving the best till last. The children's entertainers were fantastic! Absolutely brilliant! If the kids are happy and entertained, what more can us parents ask for. Plenty of chairs and tables at the main entertainment area. The bar staff are happy to ‘do a Martini' with their trays of drinks winding through all the tables to save us a trip to the bar! The children's entertainers (three at the time) worked hard every night to come up with entertainment for the kids and it wasn't the same old stuff all the time, there was some variation to it. Then the grown up entertainment! Loads of audience participation. But they're not to overpowering with it. They don't embarrass you. If you don't want to get up on stage, they leave you alone. My husband was up there nearly every night! He loves the attention and can't resist joining in. It was very good.
A very memorable holiday for all of us. Having been to Arenal the year before and Portugal this year, the entertainment and facilities at Son Parc were better. Had the apartment been slightly better, i.e. fridge freezer, more comfortable sofa beds and a better kitchen area, this would have come out tops!
I wonder if anyone else does what we do. If we are in a one bedroomed apartment, the kids have the twin room because they are sent to bed before us adults! So they can't have the sofa bed because the sofa bed is in the front room. So I wonder if it's always the parents that are on these very uncomfortable things?
