Review title: "Agua Beach Hotel - Never Again!"
Travel date: August 2008
On arrival at the Agua Beach in the early hours of the morning, we were greeted with a male receptionist who was really grumpy and unfriendly. He was no help at all and gave us very brief directions to our room. We had to go across the pool area then into a glass lift that I would describe as filthy and smelly like a shower screen that hadn't been cleaned for many months. What a great first impression that was! We then had to go across the roof sunbathing area - this was badly lit and very dark. We then came across another lift which was just as bad. This lift took us down into the annexe of the building. This was also very dimly lit and we had great difficulty finding our room as they were numbered A and B but our key card was not lettered so we did not know if we were in the right room. We just took pot luck.

We had paid to upgrade our room to a superior room with a kitchenette. What a shock we had. The room was dirty and smelt of cigarettes, the fridge that we had paid for was just a little beer fridge with the wire stretched across the sink, the two ring hot plates were unusable and filthy, the bedding was stained and also smelt musty and there was dust every where. All in all, the room was disgustingly smelly and dirty. We tried to complain to the rep who was only interested in selling trips.

Then came the restaurant. The food was not cooked properly, was lukewarm and the salads were soggy. Only ate there once even though we had paid half board.

The pool was also very small. Good job the beach was across the road. We did not get the room we paid for as the one pictured in the brochure wasn't in the hotel. It was a very disappointing holiday and we would not recommend this hotel. How it is a three star I will never know. Would stay in Palma Nova again but the Agua Beach hotel - never again!

We stayed in the annexe part of the Agua Beach hotel which was not very clean at all. To get to our room we had to go across the pool area and into a glass lift that hadn't been cleaned in months and was very dirty, then across the roofing area and then down in yet another lift.

On finding the room we found that it was not the room that we had paid for. The room was musty, smelt of cigarettes, was very dusty and unkempt and bed clothes were stained and these too smelt musty. The food in the restaurant was under cooked, luke warm and what I would describe as slop. The pool was very small and there was no chance of getting by it as there were towels on sunbeds that were reserved for the same people every day of our stay there. Staff not very helpful and the rep was no use at all and only interested in selling trips. The best thing we had was the view from our balcony and the beach across the road. Would not recomend this hotel and would not go back there.

We read some reviews before we went to the Agua Beach Hotel
and thought, what have we done? Well, we were glad that we did not take notice of some of them reviews. We did like the place, were made to feel welcome plus the food was good, large rooms and good weather. What more would you want?

We really enjoyed our stay at the Aqua Beach Hotel. It is two minutes from the beach, is clean and tidy and the staff were great - always there to see if we needed anything. The rooms were clean and the beds made every day unless you said otherwise. The meals were fine and a good selection, the bar staff were very friendly and the entertainment was well worth seeing - something for everyone. We will certainly be back.

I must say there are a lot of dramatic reviews on this hotel. I stayed there for a week in July and enjoyed every minute of it.

Location is amazing - couldn't ask for better. Hotel staff were very helpful and friendly. I really enjoyed the food, although I was with a very fussy eater who didn't enjoy it as much but her diet was terrible, so that explains that!

Rooms and hotel surroundings always very clean with excellent views. Our First Choice rep was brilliant and always around to help. I actually cried on leaving the Agua Beach hotel and believe me, I have high standards. Would I recommend it? Definitely!

If you have booked at the Agua Beach hotel, then I would change your hotel quickly. Horrible food, staff didn't want to know us and treated like animals, it was dirty and our sea view, which we asked for, was the view of a mini golf course, the staff smoking yard and a lovely garden path. Really put me off Magaluf as a place even though I really enjoyed my holiday.

Dirty rooms that smell, maid walks in and throws you out of bed. Terrible view of a concrete wall. How First Choice class the Agua Beach hotel is as a three star or use it all is beyond me.

Bit worried after reading some of reviews but our stay was excellent. Plenty of choice for evening meal. Rooms clean and tidy and all staff polite and helpful. Pool was small but beach just across road so it didn't matter. Would certainly return to the Agua Beach in the future.

The Aqua Beach Hotel was clean and in a great position. Dining room and pool were too small, although staff in the dining room kept the queueing to a minimum and did a great job. Non-smokers were not catered for as there is no restriction on smoking anywhere in the hotel. Food was very good.

No consideration given to non-smokers at the Agua Beach. People allowed to smoke in all lounges and reception. We had mosquitoes in our room. Food very dreary.

Location of hotel excellent and Palma Nova is a lovely place.

Just today got back from a week's stay at this hotel. I must say I was impressed with our room. We were in the apartment type rooms above the Spar shop. Lovely and clean and spacious.

Cannot grumble at all with the hotel itself for what it cost. There was me and my wife and toddler, with my friend and his wife and three year old. We enjoyed our stay. The location was great!

Only downside was pool are is too small, but being near to beach makes up for this! Food was pretty poor. OK if you like your salads but I'm no rabbit and like meat and veg! Breakfast was pretty much OK and gave you a good start to the day. We ate out most nights though but we only booked this hotel as the apartment we wanted had been fully booked. We usually self cater anyway!

I have just returned from a week's stay at the Aqua Beach hotel. It was supposed to be a three star superior but I do not agree. I believe it only a three star at the very best.

The food in the restaurant was dire. One had to queue from 6.p.m. for a 6.30 setting. Once in, joined another queue for the buffet counter which defeats the whole idea of buffet.
Smokers continually used the non-smoking area of the hotel and were not challenged about this. Even the hotel staff walked through the area smoking.

Our room was full of mosquitoes. They appeared to come in even though the balcony door was kept shut. We came to the conclusion that they came in via the air con. The air con did not appear to work properly.

What a disappointment. There is only one small lift for four people, no garden to sit in and the toilets were only cleaned once a day. In the restuarant, you had to queue to get in as it was so small and the food was awful - chips and salad every day, no vegetables until Sunday when we had frozen Brussels sprouts and tinned carrots. No after dinner coffee/tea.

Many people were eating elswhere and lots saying they would not use the Aqua Beach hotel again. We believe it would not be a three star if not so close to the beach but the staff were nice and friendly.

I am baffled about the poor reviews for this hotel. Eight of us have stayed at this hotel for past five years. There are picky eaters among us, including one gluten free. We have found the food to be excellent on all occasions - plenty of selection both meat and fish, fresh fruit, gorgeous salads, fantastic puddings. If people want five star food, they should book a five star hotel.

All staff very helpful. We'll be back again next year to the Aqua beach.

Review title: "Not Again"
Travel date: October 2007
Having read comments on Aqua beach I was very concerned about going. The accommodation was rather neglected for cleanliness perhaps because the hotel closed for the winter the day we left on the 30th October.

The food was either battered fish, chicken, beefburgers, ham and everything seemed to be battered. Potatoes fried or out of a packet or even out of a tin and the vegetables also out of a tin.

My husband and I booked double room with all that goes with that. For the first two nights we were in a single room looking out onto a roof and mountain side. The roof had all sorts of dirt and things on it. We think they had either over booked or had closed off some of the rooms for the winter or it may have been true what they said that there had been a tornado the week before! No, we would not go there again.

Staff were lovely and friendly.

When we arrived at the Aqua Beach hotel, we had to wait nearly three hours before we could get into our room. The room was dirty and shabby and the cleaner had left some of her equipment in it. The bed covers had blood stains on them and the floor was very greasy.

When we went down for dinner the food was disgusting and we could not eat it. We went to see the rep in the morning and he was very unhelpful. My husband and I had to pay a lot of money to be moved to another hotel (we only stayed there one night out of our weeks holiday). Not recommended!

The location of the Aqua Beach Hotel is excellent and that is the only good thing I have to say about it.

The entertainment is dire, old fashioned, lounge area a bit shabby, swimming pool too small, but worst of all is the food. It is so inedible, it looks awful and tastes awful - it is either over or undercooked. I could not bring myself to eat the desserts. There is no food that is suitable for children. Most people said they were eating out. I have never stayed in a hotel where the food was so bad. I complained to rep. who told me to send a letter to the travel agents which I have done. I cannot believe a hotel can get away with serving food of such poor quality.

This hotel was very well situated for amenities and the beach. It was a ten minute walk to and from Magaluf and the beach a ten metre walk from the entrance of the hotel. The food was really nice and to everyone's taste.

The only thing at the Aqua Beach was the pool was very small and on my visit I never went in it once.

Our holiday was a nightmare at the Aqua Beach. Firstly got a room at back of hotel and unable to sleep because of noise from generator. Requested a move to front of hotel and was informed by manager these were reserved for British clients who paid more for holidays then Irish. We paid more and were moved but this room was no better as we were beside a Chinese restaurant and the noise went on into the early morning.

Food, don't mention it, it was unacceptable.

The Aqua Beach Hotel is a small friendly hotel in a fabulous location with the well-maintained beach just across the road. The staff are helpful and pleasant and the food is first class. There is an annexe of apartments adjoining the hotel, which are very spacious with balconies above a row of shops overlooking the street, great for people watchers.

Opposite the annexe is the 'Stadium' karaoke show bar which provides excellent entertainment whether you are inside listening to the tribute acts or just watching from the annexe balconies. We have stayed there on several holidays both in the hotel and the apartments and they are both equally good. One last word though, mixed teenage groups would not really fit in with the overall normal mix of clients.

Good location right next to beach. Come out of the front of hotel, cross the road and you are on lovely sandy beach. Right next to other bars and shops and Golf Fantasia is next door.

We were there with another couple. They had a room in the front looking out on to the water. Our room was on the side. We could see some of beach.

We highly recommend the Agua Beach - clean and spotless. We would go back.

My girlfriend and I recently stayed at the hotel, and had a great time. The staff, food and entertainment were certainly commendable. This was my first time abroad, and my experience of the hotel and the location has certainly made me want to go again next year, especially to visit banana joes. A thoroughly enjoyable time was had - a week wasn't long enough!!
