Just returned from Arenal d'en Castell where we stayed within the Club Aguamarina Hotel on half board basis for one week. With two young children, we were disappointed not to receive the air conditioned hotel room we had originally paid extra for. Instead, we were given a small room in the hotel which did not have air conditioning. We were later informed that the newly renovated part of the hotel was predominately kept for Italian, German and Spanish guests and that at any one time no more than 20% would be British.
Despite having to take this complaint to the travel agent on return, we have to say this did not spoil our holiday.

The food in the hotel was excellent with a huge selection catering for all tastes. Hotel in general was very clean and the staff extremely helpful. Would consider going back but only if air conditioned room available!

I read the reviews with a little trepidation before we commenced our holidays, having requested air conditioning because of health reasons I did expect it and therefore thought this would be ok. I rang First Choice who told me that block A had air con and block B didn't. I explained this to the tour company who assured me that in this case it would be ok and off we went.

On transfer from Mahon to hotel, we were met with, you've guessed, no air conditioning, this was brought up with the rep who said she would try and have us moved, but you've guessed it, no space!! She suggested a fan, but on asking for one we were told there were none. At this point I insisted and low and behold one was found albeit for the next day and as was told previously at a small cost, having said that, something which I believe we should not have had to pay for seeing as I requested air con on original booking. Guest rooms may come with a safety deposit box but the key has to be paid for too! Again we did this for personal safety. This whole episode did not make for a good holiday and I believe that until adequate air con in guest rooms is available, that this is the way it should be sold or not at all, then it is up to the individual. For this reason I will not be revisiting this particular place although the island of Menorca is particularly beautiful.

Food at the hotel is ok. Cleanliness is good and maids are pleasant. All staff are fine.
Pools are clean and the surrounding area is fine. Entertainment on most nights is ok, the children's disco is fine (a lot of hard work I imagine). We did not stay around most nights but saw the end of the adult entertainment which was ok if you like that sort of thing.

I wish I could be more positive about this hotel but the air con issue really did cloud the holiday.

I really enjoyed my stay at the hotel, the pool was nice and the staff were very nice.

What really made the stay great were the entertainers, as they did a mini disco every night at 8:30, which I really enjoyed watching and then they did a sort of disco for everyone else where you were taught really cool dances.
