"Cap Salou Hotel & Area - Not For Everyone"
Travel date:
July 2008
Just spent two weeks in Cap Salou. The Cap Salou hotel itself was OK - basic, but clean. Pretty much what you would expect from a three star rated package accommodation. Had half board included, but never ate there as it was like a feeding frenzy with the crowds queuing and children running wild.
My main issue was that the hotel was was fully of families and children and we had been told (by our travel agent) that the hotel did not allow children under 12. As a couple in their 30s, it was not the right place for us at all.
Also, Cap Salou itself is tiny and on the tacky side. The 'beach' is a tiny cove which is overcrowded in no time. Note - there are no spanish restaurants in Cap Salou area at all, mainly English pubs serving English pub grub. We spent as little time there as possible as a result, getting the first bus out of there in the morning!

"Was Not Great!"

Well, let's just say I will not go back to that hotel again. It was basically bog standard. I thought the meals were pretty boring, as the food did not have a great variety, as it had out only a couple of different meats and chips every night. So as a vegetarian, I was not particularly pleased.
The staff did not understand when I was trying to ask for a simple Coke, which was disappointing. The rooms were OK but when we were getting used to the room, I was in the shower and the shower curtain fell down. So as you can guess, that did not surprise me!
The only thing I loved about this holiday was the surroundings. Just outside the hotel there were plenty of activities - bungee jumping, trampolines, games, souvenir shops and hair braiding shops. But overall I was not pleased with the Cap Salou hotel.

The Cap Salou hotel was brilliant - very friendly, and welcoming. Could have done with a bit of modernisation but the beach is great!

"Cap Salou Hotel Was Fine"

Cap Salou is a typical 80s Spanish hotel. Family of four with kids 12 and ten. All nationalities, very nice location next to beach, typical buffet food, no thrills but clean.
If you want ooompahh music and tacky, noisy bars, then stay in Salou.

"Not If You're British"

Do not go to this hotel if you are like me, British! If you are Russian or Spanish, you will be OK. My fiancé and the kids stayed here for two weeks. Paid half board and enjoyed their meal at least once and I mean, only once. Same stuff every day. Kids got bored, we got bored and ended up dining out most nights. I would advise to go to Cambrils or Salou town centre. Not for families or the desperate, to be honest. Take note please!

I loved this hotel! Interior was extremely dated but the back garden, beach and front bar were fantastic! Rooms were disappointing but the pool made up for it!
I wouldn't recommend going here and expecting luxury. Perfect for young people!
