The hotel was built in 1967 and renovated in April 2000. Among its amenities the Ipanema Park has a swimming pool, Mediterranean gardens, a terrace for sunbathing and sun loungers. The lounge is fitted with air-conditioning and a plasma television screen offering international channels. Guests can also enjoy the card and pool tables. During peak season, 'The Laterns' bar terrace area is open, although if preferred, guests may also stay inside, with the comfort of air conditioning.

The hotel's 210 rooms have a bathroom, television, mini-bar and hair dryer. Many of the rooms are soundproofed.

Approximately six kilometres from the Ipanema Park is golf Son Antem, an 18 hole golf course. Within walking distance is s'Arenal´s tennis club with squash courts, bowling and six tennis courts. The islands longest beach (approximately eight kilometres long) is 15 minutes walk from the hotel.
